Melissa Doiron (B. Mus., B.Mus.Ed.: MUN, M.Ed.: Acadia University) is the assistant conductor of Chebucto Symphony Orchestra, co-founder of Glass Winds Ensemble, and Music Director at Charles P. Allen High School in Bedford, Nova Scotia. She is a guest conductor and featured clinician with numerous ensembles such as Nova Sinfonia, the Early Music Society of Nova Scotia, and the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra.
Along with her colleague Pam Paddock, Melissa is a co-founding director of the all female Wind Ensemble, Glass Winds, an ensemble focused on performing works by women and BIPOC composers. Glass Winds was the feature ensemble in the Spring issue of Canadian Winds Journal, and recently on the Bandroom Podcast.
Melissa was featured on a panel for the Canadian Band Association as a mentor for upcoming music educators. She won the Distinguished Band Director of the Year Award from the Nova Scotia Band Association in 2021; the first year it was ever awarded to a woman.
