Lala Lee, a former student of Lynn Stodola, currently studies with John Perry and David Louie at the Glenn Gould School in Toronto. She received high acclaims for her solo debut with Symphony Nova Scotia in 2017 performing Mozart Piano Concerto #20. She was also highly praised for her performances of Schumann Piano Concerto with Chebucto Symphony Orchestra, Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals with Symphony Nova Scotia, and Shostakovich 2nd Piano Concerto with Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra. In 2017, Lala was the youngest pianist to advance to the semi-finals of the Canadian Music Competitions SteppingStone Competition and was featured on CBCs 30 Hot Canadian Classical Musicians under 30 2017 edition. Upon performing a sold out, standing-room-only solo recital at the MusicRoom Chamber Players Series in November 2016, she was invited back to perform with her trio in February 2018.
Lala placed third at the National Music Festival in 2015 and she was a three time winner of Doctor Piano and Yamaha Canada Piano Rose Bowl, LAMP Piano Prize (Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance) and a two time winner of Tietje Zonneveld Award for Excellence in Classical Piano. Lala is also a Nova Scotia Talent Trust Scholarship recipient and Nova Scotia Arts Endowment Fund Scholarship recipient.
